Is it okay to not use thermal glue on a cpu?

Public Comments

  1. no you have to it gets really hot ..lol mayb it can get on fire
  2. its ok, but with it the cpu will stay cooler, it is recommended
  3. no you need it there for better heat transfer either thermal glue or thermal paste or thermal grease ( any kind of TIM) maybe you could get away with running a pentium with out TIM but these newer cpu run at a much higher speed and create a lot more heat hope this helps gl and tc
  4. Most glues dry as an insulator. YOU dont want this. The CPU has to get rid of its heat as quickly as possible to the heat sink! Thermal Glue transfers the heat, allowing the CPU to work faster and last longer!
  5. Sure as long as you don't mind your CPU being disposable. It will reduce the life drastically.
  6. NO you will melt the prosser even if the hea sink shifts it can be toast
