Do the more expensive copper heatsinks make a difference?

Just to throw it out there, do the more expesinve, copper heatsinks really make a diffence in Cpu temperatre?

  1. Copper does conduct heat better than aluminium. But it helps to have a high capacity fan on them. Measured in CFM Cubic Feet Per Minute.
  2. Hi, in my opinion the more expensive copper heatsinks don't make a huge difference in the CPU temperature but I also wouldn't suggest bying the ceapest one that you can find either. You really should get something of a middle quality. That is what I did when I was building my computers and they run fine and the heatsinks that I bought do the job. Anyway, I hope that this helps to answer you question. Have a great day!
  3. A high quality Aluminum heatsink is the way to go. Forget copper.
  4. Yes because copper is the best heat conductant next to gold & silver. Will it make any significant difference in your PC .... unless you are overclocking & have a CPU heat problem ...NO. regards, Philip T
  5. Copper's thermal conductivity is about twice as high as aluminum but so is the cost.If your trying to build a super computer then buy copper but for most home users a good quality aluminum heat sink will work just fine. They even make aluminum and copper bonded together heat sinks where you get the advantage of both.Just remember one simple rule heat is the enemy of all computer components.
  6. Only if you overclock stock fans work fine at stock settings. If you need a new fan you can look here: http://gamegiants.net/index.php?cPath=1_8&page=1&sort=3a
