How to tell if my motherboard will work with a certain processor?
So i have a really crappy AMD processor (like 1.8 ghzs or something) and im not sure if my motherboard will support the new one is their any way to find out ? thanks

- There are a lot of things to consider here, but first and foremost, check the documentation on your MOBO with the manufacturer. Second, there are many types of processors, usually designated by the amount of pins there are on the back of the chip. My system uses a socket 939, which means there are 939 pins on the processor. There are a ton of different processor pin counts, so you would check the manufacturer information for two things: first, the pin count of the processor socket on the motherboard, since anything other than the correct number of pins wont fit (obviously) and second, what speed the motherboard is capable of using. Some boards are not compatible with certain processors, especially off-the-shelf stuff that you buy from HP or Dell or other major manufacturers. Best bet, check the site of the company that makes your MOBO and their support page should have the info you are looking for. Good Luck!
