Is it possible to get a new motherboard for a toshiba laptop?

My Toshiba laptop broke down entirely a almost a year ago. It's two years old by now, and we got it inspected. They said the motherboard was cracked. Is it possible to get it repaired and working again, with all the old information on it?

1. You can get a motherboard off of ebay. ive fixed a couple lappy's this way. as far as your information. its still on the hard drive.
