How difficult is it to replace a motherboard with one of the same kind?
I bought a computer on ebay with a defective motherboard. How difficult would it be for my to take the old one out and put the new one in?

- not very hard unless its cramped inside, just make sure you remember or label where each wire connects
- It's actually pretty easy... Just keep track of what you unplug from where... Maybe take (digital) pictures of the BEFORE board before you start... Make sure you are properly grounded too, as static electricity can damage motherboards.
- Not hard at all. Just pay attention to all the connections so you get them back in the same place and also make sure you buy more thermal paste to place between the CPU and the CPU heatsink/fan. That will be the worst thing about replacing the motherboard.
- take a picture of it and use that to connect the wires.
- It's not really hard, just remember to keep the old one until you get the new one up and running because you may need it to refer to ( jumpers etc. ) if something doesn't go right the first time. Take some pictures of the old one before you do anything to it, then maybe a few during the process so you can refer back to them as well as to where connectors go and the like.
- Almost impossible unless the first motherboard lasted less than about a year. After about a year, you'll be lucky to find your motherboard anywhere outside of "Joe's Crappy Old Outdated Computer Parts" website. Send that defective Ebay junk back. Get PayPal to refund your money if the seller will not. You paid for a working computer, not a paperweight. (And if you bought a broken computer on purpose without knowing how to exchange the mobo in it...wow.) PS- Website does not exist in reality. If you didn't get the point, you also need help.
