How bad is a tiny scratch to a motherboard? I decided to put a computer together and bought a case, motherboard, cpu, and all that other stuff which is besides the point. After installing my motherboard i realized that the case i received was defective, so i had to remove my motherboard and return the case to get a new one. The problem I am having is that when i removed the mother i accidentally made a tiny scratch on the bottom of the motherboard by running it over the brass standoff. What i wanna know is how bad this could affect the motherboard. Thank you all in advance for your answers.
How do you pack a motherboard for shipping back to the manufacturer? I was sent a bum motherboard, and now I have to ship it back so that they can fix it, but they didn't say how I should pack it to send it back. Are there certain materials that I shouldn't use? What are the signs of a motherboard malfunction? My PC will not turn on. Before this, when it was in standby mode, it would not turn back on, I had to manually shut down the PC and restart it. After a few times of this it will not turn on at all. I replaced the power supply and the green light on the motherboard comes on but nothing else happens. Could it be the motherboard?

I have a 1ghz system which currently has a 20gb hard drive and I am planning on installing a seagate 80gb ATA hard drive on it. How do I know whether power connections on the motherboard are propoer ? I use Intel DG965RY Board assembled PC. Why the fans on the motherboard are not working? Got here a pretty old motherboard, CUV4X running P3. It has 3 fan connectors on it (for cpu fan etc). However, when I connect the fans, they're not working, not a single fan power plug seems to have power in it. The same fans work fine when connected to another motherboard. What could be the problem? I have enough knowledge about the computers, and changing the hardware constantly around, yet never met anything like this. I've tried to see if there're any settings in BIOS I should play with, yet didn't find anything there. All other functions of the motherboard are working, and I didn't abuse it in any way, didn't even try to overclock it, so I doubt that anything burned out in it. Should I switch some pins around or anything? I got the cpu fan working by connecting it directly to the harddrive power plug (found an adapter left from somewhere), yet I'd like to make the MB work the way it's supposed to, not some alternate methods. Looking for a solution, not empty talk. Mr. Cameron L, you have my attention. Would you please elaborate on "ESD in just the wrong spot" by editing your answer? If I solve my problem by your advice, you're guaranteed the best answer for this question. PSU is fine. I've run it with another MB and the fans run with no problems. PS. Mr. XP4ME, thank you for your answer, yet it'd be nice if you'd read the question completely before answering. Your suggestion is how I solved the problem, and I wrote about it.
